Making Pottery: Pinching, Pulling, and Molding Clay

Pottery is a fun and fascinating craft where you can create amazing shapes and functional items out of clay. There are three cool ways to make pottery: by pinching, pulling, or molding the clay.

  1. Pinching: This is where you use your fingers to pinch the clay into shape. It’s a great starting point if you’re new to pottery. You can make small bowls or cute animals simply by using your hands!

  2. Pulling: With this technique, you take a lump of clay and pull it upward to create taller shapes, like vases. This method requires some practice but lets you make beautiful and elegant forms.

  3. Molding: In molding, you use a shape or a mold to create your pottery. You place the clay inside the mold and press it to fit. This allows you to make lots of the same item, like cups or plates.

Each of these methods helps you express your creativity while learning about shaping clay into different forms. Pottery can be both an art and a skill, so don’t be afraid to try them all!
