Cone 05 = 1888°F (1031°C)

Hey there! So, when we talk about Cone 05, we’re referring to something very important in the world of pottery and ceramics.

You see, in pottery, we often use these little cones that help us measure how hot the oven (also called a kiln) gets when we’re making our clay creations. Cone 05 gets to a super hot temperature of 1888°F, which is the same as 1031°C! That’s really hot, right?

When the kiln reaches this temperature, it helps make the clay stronger and changes its color and texture. It’s kind of like cooking food, but instead, we’re making beautiful pots, plates, and other cool things!

Here are seven objects that are made with temperature measurements exactly equal to Cone 05:

  1. A ceramic mug for your hot cocoa
  2. A colorful dish for serving snacks
  3. A small vase to hold flowers
  4. A decorative tile for painting
  5. A pottery bowl for mixing ingredients
  6. A figurine of your favorite animal
  7. A unique planter for growing a small plant

So, next time you see ceramics, remember, they might have been made in a kiln that reached that super hot Cone 05 temperature!
