Cone 7 = 2262°F (1240°C)

Hey there! Let’s talk about something cool in pottery called Cone 7. When we fire our clay and glaze in the kiln, we use special cones to measure the temperature. Cone 7 is like a superhero level for clay, meaning it needs to reach 2262°F or 1240°C to become tall and strong!

When the kiln gets really hot and reaches Cone 7’s temperature, it changes the clay and glaze in amazing ways. The heat makes the clay particles fuse together, kind of like how glue works! This helps the pottery become hard, durable, and ready for use.

Let’s think of some objects made from pottery that might be just as hot and strong as Cone 7:

  1. A thick ceramic mug for your favorite hot chocolate.
  2. A pretty flower pot that holds soil and plants.
  3. A sturdy bowl for mixing ingredients.
  4. A sleek plate for serving meals.
  5. An artistic figurine that decorates your shelf.
  6. A charming tile you can use to decorate walls or floors.
  7. A lovely teapot for sharing tea with friends.

So when we talk about Cone 7 reaching those high temperatures, we’re really talking about making these awesome pottery items that are both beautiful and super strong! Isn’t that neat?
